How to make a Thangka?

The traditional thangka painting process is demanding and complex, requiring strict adherence to the rituals outlined in the scriptures and the instructions of the master. This includes a complete process of pre-painting ceremonies, canvas preparation, composition and drafting, coloring and dyeing, outlining and shaping, gilding and silvering, eye engraving, sewing, mounting, and consecration. A single thangka can take a significant amount of time, ranging from six months to over ten years.
